The 'What If?' Metropolis - Ernst Haeckel

I'm going to start the ball rolling for the project with some research into the artist I've been given! I really like the look of Haeckel's work, and I love the idea of having an organically shaped city based on his art, as well as involving World War 1 influences to include relevant aspects of his life in the city.

  1. Chloe! Get in there! I LOVE that detail about Haeckel and his belief in 'superior species' ... I think you might want to look at the idea of Utopias in support of your research - those so-called perfect places, which so often have a fascist dimension (because who gets to decide what 'perfect' is?). I can imagine how your collaborator Haeckel might be super-excited at creating a Utopia based on the 'perfection' of nature... or is it so perfect after all? Maybe not for everyone...

    1. Great, thanks for the input! I'll make some influence maps today to reflect this Utopia idea - how it may seem perfect but it's quite the opposite once you really get into the nuts and bolts of the city. I think it's a really good angle to go from with Haeckel, so stay on the lookout for my influence maps and research today!
