Following Phil's advice, I've scanned in my sketchbook and made my first set of thumbnails digital. However, I don't really like the outcome. It doesn't look right to me! I'm wondering whether its because the blue doesn't show up too well with my scanner. I'll have another go to try and improve the quality soon!
Try taking this image into Photoshop and using the 'levels' control to whiten the whites and punch up the blacks - you might consider make the image into a greyscale image and then just turning them into black line art, which you can then embolden using Levels and/or Brightness and Contrast. You'll also want to make sure you're scanning in at a resolution that is nice and high, so 300dpi +
ReplyDeleteThanks, I'll give it a go! I did scan it in at 300dpi, but it still looks iffy so I'll try a little higher and then bring it into Photoshop.
DeleteHi Chloe, I agree with Phil, I'd suggest bringing these into photoshop, you can find the levels control by going to
ReplyDeleteImage - adjustments - levels and then messing with the controls to make the blacks pop and the whites more white, It just seems blurry for a scan which should be crisp and clear. If you need help with scanning your images you can come find me and I'll show you, just look for the beard :)
Thank you! I don't think my scanner at home is the best which is probably the cause for the blurriness, maybe I'll use the one at Uni next time!
